Use the Phoenix Wi-Fi radio as an audio streamer

11 02 2008

Another cool feature of the Phoenix Wi-Fi radio remains in its ability to stream the music library stored on your home computers (either Mac or PC) wirelessly.

For example, you have set your Phoenix Wi-Fi radio as a bedhead companion and you want to listen to your favorite song before to fall asleep: this is possible and extremely easy to perform with the Phoenix Wi-Fi radio.

How to use the audio streamer function?

First, make sure your source PC and your Phoenix Wi-Fi radio are under the same home network.

Then, you have to configure the sharing parameters (in a few clicks, you will be done) of your computer’s media server.

We recommend you to use either Windows media player 11 or Twonky vision (a full compatibility list can be built on Comments’ part).

For Windows Media Player 11:

  • Click on the “Library” tab.

  • Choose the “Sharing” option.

  • Select your Phoenix Wi-Fi radio and authorize.

You’re done! Your music library now appear on the “My network” menu of your Phoenix Wi-Fi radio.

Snooze on the Phoenix Wi-Fi radio

1 02 2008

New tutorial today:

Q- How can I “5 mn-delay” my wake up thanks to the Phoenix Wi-Fi radio ?

A- It’s really easy, you just have to use the snooze mode of your Phoenix Wi-Fi radio…

How does it work ?

First, set an alarm on your Phoenix Wi-Fi radio (refer to the user manual, or go directly to the “Configuration/Alarm 1 (or Alarm 2)” menu of your radio).

When the alarm turns on, you will see the following screen.

screen shot snooze

You have now the opportunity either to postpone the alarm (Snooze) for a 5 minute delay or to shut off the radio (Stand-by) for a unknown period.

If you press “Snooze” the backlight stays on and you can see (with semi-closed eyes ;-) ) the following screen.

Remark: the Snooze mode is available from Phoenix v1.4 firmware, so check for update if not available ( go to “Configuration/Update/ via Internet” menu).

Stay tuned for more tutorials to come…

  4. You are now in the Sleep mode wizard:
