Few words to inform you that the new firmware 1.6.1 will be released tomorrow morning with major improvements in terms of audio processing.

The key features:
- Audio framework complete redesign
In order to solve most of radio station stream playing issues, our tech team has focused on :
- updating the decoding engine
- updating the caching engine
- full supporting of WM9 standard
Outcomes of these developments are the compatibility with ABC Australia and RTE (Ireland) radio stations for example.
- WPA2 support
The Phoenix Wi-Fi radio can be connected to a Wi-Fi access point secured with WPA2 system.
- Content catalogue localization
Another major feature is the opportunity for the user to select his default content catalogue, based on his localization or cultural background, directly from the Phoenix Wi-Fi radio device.
For example, if I am American and I live in Paris in France, I can select the default US content catalogue directly from my Phoenix Wi-Fi radio.
US and French catalogues are currently available, more country selections will be appear within the next weeks.
- Bug fixing
GUI bugs are fixed in this release.

Hope this new firmware will improve your Phoenix Wi-Fi radio experience!

Edit:
A patch will be available by the end of the week in order to correct RTE, and RadioIO problems that users have noticed on the forum.

This sounds like the best firmware update yet. Can’t wait to see the changes! Many thanks to Com One Phoenix for the continual support of this great radio.

I only had a few minutes before leaving for work this morning to download and test this new upgrade, but my initial reaction is–to coin a phrase–”two thumbs way up”! Radio Australia and Radio New Zealand International were heard flawlessly for the first time on the Phoenix. For some reason, ABC Radio National would only buffer to 16% and then stall; but that could have been a problem at the source. I’ll test it again later. But congratulations and thank you for your fine work and continued support of this platform. I really feel I made the right decision to buy the Phoenix.
Baptiste:
An idea! Since the “favourites” button is practically useless (due to almost all stations not making use of this facility), why not adjust the firmware to allow for a “last station” option. In other words, the user can have the option of changing the functionality of the button to toggle between the current station and the station listened to immediately previous to the current station.
Just a thought.
I have an Orange version LiveRadio.
It has worked well until since about a month ago. I now repeatedly get the Connecting… Buffering… Reconnecting in 5, 4, 3, 2, 1s error, very annoying.
I have heard that the new Phoenix firmware upgrade has taken care of this problem but why does it persist in the Orange firmware version?
Thanks for help!
Hi Hans,
unfortunately, you will have either to wait for Orange liveradio next firmware update (our update protocols are totally split) or to find a Phoenix Wi-Fi radio…
Hi Baptiste,
Thank you very much for your answer.
Are you not involved in the Orange s/w updates?
I wonder if the Orange units are automatically updated and if that is the explanation why my radio worked just fine until about a month ago – i.e. if there was an update by then which doesn’t work correctly.
Isn’t it possible to load the Phoenix s/w in my unit?
